The Caribou Mine is a working mine on private property. Peyton Jackson led this trip with the permission of the mine owners. Do not trespass or attempt to visit this mine without permission.
Meet at Caribou Mine, above Nederland, at 9:30 am for an underground tour and an above ground walk.
The Caribou Mine is a silver, gold, and lead mine located in Boulder county, Colorado. Zinc and Uranium are also present.

Saturday October 26, 09:30 am MTN, Colorado Scientific Society Meets at The Caribou Mine Parking Area located near the top of Caribou Road above Nederland CO.
“We will tour the Portal of Caribou Mine and then hike down to the Cross Mine for a more extensive underground tour highlighting Mineralogy, Mine History and some engineering.
After the tour we will travel to the upper area of the property for a tour of existing mine dumps and the Comstock building with views of the back of Rocky Mountain National Park and the Caribou Glacier. BAG LUNCH Moment.
Weather permitting (clear road) we will tour the Caribou Cemetery under renovation. Tour will adjourn after lunch and attendees are free to hike and explore the upper areas of the Caribou Road (parking available there) and the intersection of the Historic Jeep Road known as the 505.”
Lunch at the Historic Caribou Cemetery site with outdoor hiking opportunities and some very prominent geology on the edge of the Roosevelt National Forest.
