Proterozoic structures of the central Colorado Front Range

Trip Leader: Yvette Kuiper, Colorado School of Mines

This field trip will focus on rocks and deformation associated with the Paleoproterozoic Yavapai/Mazatzal orogenies and the Mesoproterozoic Picuris orogeny in the central Colorado Front Range. We will discuss new evidence for the Picuris orogeny in the Black Hawk-Idaho Springs area. We will also examine some of the Cretaceous-Paleogene structures and mineralization, in particular in the Colorado School of Mines Edgar Mine.
